Do I Have the Option of Trenchless Sewer Repair?

Do I Have the Option of Trenchless Sewer Repair?

When you find out that your sewer lines are in need of major repairs, you dread the idea of having to dig up your property and make the repair. Some plumbing contractors only offer this option—digging up a giant trench and ripping out the old pipes or a portion of the pipes in order to put in new ones.

How Trenchless Repair Makes Things Easier

Luckily, this isn’t your only option. Today, trenchless sewer pipe repairs make things easier. Plumbers can dig only one or two holes in your property. Then, they use either pipe bursting or pipelining to insert a new pipe in the old lining.

Trenchless pipe lining involves dragging a new deflated pipe lining coated in epoxy through the old pipe. Then, hydraulic equipment seals it in place. Pipe bursting involves breaking apart the old piping before inserting a new pipe. These methods:

  1. Take less time.
  2. Save your landscaping.
  3. Make things easier on you.

Is This Really an Option for My Home?

But you might be concerned that this isn’t an option for your sewer line. However, we’ve found that for most sewer line issues, it is. This technology is so advanced that it’s possible for plumbers to approach any pipe by digging a hole only where the sewer line meets your home and where it meets the municipal system. There may be some exceptions but talk to a plumber before making any assumptions.

What If My Plumber Says It’s Not Right for My Home?

You might want to seek a second opinion. Some plumbers simply do not have access to trenchless technology, which is costly and tough to use without proper training. They may try to sell you on the traditional method of sewer pipe repair, even if it’s not really the only option!
