Cured-in-Place Piping: The Solution to Your Sewer Line Problems

If your sewer line cracks and breaks apart, will you have to put up with plumbers digging up your property? You will if you call a plumber who only has the basic tools available for pipe repair. But when you choose a plumber with access to trenchless technology, cured-in-place piping is the faster, easier solution.

Cured-in-place piping is what we call the finished product of a trenchless sewer line repair–or trenchless pipe relining. It holds up just as well as a conventional pipe replacement. While you don’t get an entirely new pipe, cured-in-place piping is known to last decades.

Here’s How It Works

Trenchless sewer pipe repair technology uses large hydraulic equipment to access the pipes with ease without having to dig up the whole length of the pipe. This is messy, and something that most people want to avoid. Today, it’s not really necessary, and trenchless sewer pipe repair helps you to save time, save your yard, and reduce some stress.

There are a few different methods to use with trenchless technology, but we’re focusing on trenchless pipe relining (rather than pipe bursting or other methods). With this method, a new pipe liner is dragged through the old piping, effectively sealing up the pipe from the inside.

It’s called cured-in-place piping because the new pipe liner is coated in adhesive. The pipe liner itself is made of polyester, fiberglass, or a similar material. It’s soaked in pipelining before the hydraulic equipment drags it through one end of the pipe from an access point (one or two holes are necessary to get to the pipe).

The new liner is given time to dry or cure in place. The adhesive seals over cracks and the seamless liner won’t leave the pipe vulnerable to further breaking and cracking.

When you need sewer pipe repair, just make sure that your local company offers trenchless repair. Not all plumbers do! Call a plumber with access to the technology you need to make the job as stress-free as possible.
